Perfect Is The Enemy Of Good

I’m currently occupying the middle seat on an A320 short haul flight. Typing in the smallest font available and with the screen lit as dimly as it will go, I have an irrational fear that my temporary neighbours are covertly reading these words over my shoulder and casting judgement upon me, whilst continuing to noisily munch on their over priced mini tube of Pringles. Despite this privacy concern, I shall continue on and attempt to publish these witterings for all and sundry (yes, that’s you) to read regardless - Pringles optional.

Perfect is the enemy of good - an expression of which there are many variations, from the Chinese proverb “Better a diamond with a flaw than a pebble without one” to Sheryl Sandberg’s much more recent “Done is better than perfect”. I will try to start implementing this mindset in life with a hope to be more productive - in fact it is one of the sparks which has resulted in the creation of this blog.

The writings and photos I upload are not shared to be judged or critiqued, for I have a fear of both of these things, and they will certainly not be perfect, although my perfect is different to yours and the next persons, but they are shared in the sprit of the aforementioned - that sharing something is better than never sharing anything.

In summary, I hope that this space will serve as an outlet for the creative side of my brain, and who knows, maybe it will satisfy that feeling needing to create and share. No doubt constant procrastination will do it’s best to waylay me, but with a little luck something good enough may just appear along the way.
